Prevent Child Abuse America’s positive campaign for Child Abuse Prevention Month introduced the pinwheel as a symbol for child abuse and neglect prevention.
The blue pinwheels represent community dedication to healthy families and the healthy development of children nationwide. The pinwheels represent the “wind of change” that influence how community members and services approach abuse prevention programs and policies.
Pines Hills Advocacy Center places pinwheels in the front yard of the Lincoln Parish Courthouse during the month of April, which is designated as Child Abuse Awareness Month. Each pinwheel represents a child that has received services from Pine Hills Advocacy Center.
